The conventional forks used on the '03-'04 R6 ('06-'08 R6S) are said to be some of the best standard forks ever, and the only thing the newer suspension will benefit the average rider will be in parking lot cool points. Below is the information on the 2008 Yamaha YZF R6. As far as the speed, i doubt that the R6S is going to take the R6. I rode my friends 06 r6, and put my sv on craigslist that night. well..sooo far the polls are saying the R6 is better the the R6s...and by the way..DUDE...Bostum riding an R6r because it better then an R6s..I don't understand you thinking...you riding an R6r and your blowing R6smoke at me...you cut me down on my opinion...i just don't understand...Is it the smog in cali?.It's so cute the way little boys whose mommies are paying for their bikes think they know everything about bikes now. Although I have an 07 so I guess my R6 is as good as the R6S. But even the CBR isn't a bad choice either for the track, it's not much farther behind the R6.I had a 99 SV650 as my first bike. The only big difference I have felt, is the r6's resistance to leaning. No regrets awesome buy. I take you have an r6s....r6s's have NO performance at all..I have nothing against the r6s..if you like the r6s ..its cool..but if you want performance and style and and being a little uncomfortable on long rides then the r6 is your choice..remember Ben Bostum had a very sucessful championship winning 2008 season. There are going to be those that hate on the R6 because they have an R6S and are secretly jealous that they did not have the money for the R6... Then there are those that are happy with what they have and don't give two squirts about having the other. All i see is the exhaust is diff on them.this is actually a very talked (debated) about discussion. I just like the R6W because it's cooler.helll yea i agree with damond r6 is wayy better then the r6s they didnt even have them at my dealership(the r6s)I sat on Both the R6 and R6s. And with such a 'violent' powerband, for less of a better word, the '06-'07 model R6 would not be a good fit for someone that's just getting into sportriding, cause it hit hard when it did. I'm still waiting for insurance and and that non sense to pan out. Personally I don't think lap times have anything to do with the bike. But I think I am gonna be serious about the matte black grafitti CBR. The r6 has performance and style and The r6s two wheels..The r6s has NO performance to it and a little style..On the yamaha web site you can compare the r6 to the r6s ans see the difference in the parts...like the r6s has no slipper clutch. Sporting the Yamaha YFZ-R6 ...NOT an r6s...nothing personal.. Sporting the Yamaha YFZ-R6 ...NOT an r6s...nothing personal.. run a search through the forum and youll find the answers easyi never really looked into anything before I bought my bike ..07 R6.. Basically, the R6"S" was the R6 until 2006, when a new "track" focused model was introduced as the R6.

Keep in mind the '08 R6S is a mix of '03-'05, so some things like PC maps might not be exact if you use one from a previous R6. I was looking for either the r6 or cbr600, whichever was first and/or best priced. It even has more power than before.

Any Help? But like everyone else is saying, if you track most the time, then the R6 is the better choice but if you ride street the CBR is the better choice. I wasnt even aware that there is an R6s, but i do not like the front end of it, nor that big exhaust.seems like you should've done a lot more research before making your purchase. Don't regret getting mine one bit. Only now do I realize that an R6 is designed of the track and therfor street riding is more difficult on it.
