For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.i remember a cycle world article years ago where a zx-12r didn't have the speed limiter installed yet and it went honest to god, just over 200 mph.I dont remember any test of the 12R going 200 mph and especially OVER 200 mph. 180+ is silly to do in any public road. $150 is worth avoiding the need to tear the sprocket off and then have a speedo that is off by %50 all of the time until you put a new nut on there. This was the fastest i've gone on my basically stock 2014 zx14r. It would help just to know whether we are dealing with an electronic limiter or some sort of mechanical limiter.

This bike has the torque and horsepower to pull a much higher gear. I dont know the answer to your question, but you know it will be over double the posted speed limit, fastest I have had mine since installing the SH. Maybe try this palce, they seem to know their sh!t when it comes to the ZX 14.

ZX14R Real top speed. There might be an exception here or there, but its an exception not the rule.Well stock a zx14 is not going over the 186 limiter ..But at Maxton a zx14 with 24 miles in the clock went 196.1 breaking the stock production record....Some say it wasn't stock because they swapped the 17 tooth front sprocket for a 18 tooth ..This gear change fools the limiter so you can go faster than the 186.. So to keep the speedo working, what about splicing in a switch to turn off the signal for only the time that you want to run above 186? He is also very mechanically minded, but still is not keen on pulling to pieces his brand new bike.
