I'm kind of surprised by how small it is.The Tachi is built to accommodate a crew of 20+ for months at a time, that doesn't seem like much room for them. So the pilot wouldn't be staring out a window (if there was one), like you would your car, but actually would be looking at the floor of the car. It’s hard to grasp the level of detail when those corridors and corners are whizzing by on screen, but actually getting a chance to spin around and explore the ship is a true geek-out moment. US Navy warships are more cramped than this.I agree. It is a warship after all. You could easily fit that many, while having small occupancy staterooms instead of open berthing makes it less efficient you could hot bunk. And in my imagination the book version seems to be even bigger at times. Watch any scene set in OPS and you will realize they cut off a significant chunk of it.Also the battlestations from the raid against the protogen station seems to have gone missing completely. They actually do mention a few times in the books how small the cargo hold is. This would move the CoM up towards the center of the ship and move Alex closer to the center of rotation.Maybe that's how belters build ships earth and Mars are still stuck in the past where the cockpit is at the front.New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castThe Expanse is a space opera, mystery-sci-fi drama television series based on the bestselling novels of the same name by James S. But I saw a cutaway of the Rocinante on the net, where the individual sections are turned over. Careful for general spoilers! when you're maneuvering, you don't want your pilot disoriented by the centrifugal forces.I totally get what you are saying. But kudos to the person who made this.

If the engine/cargo/water storage are all at the bottom and the heaviest bits it might make sense to put the pilots chair near engineering.Though perhaps for the TV version the nose is filled with water or something heavy as I don't see the water tank (as described in the books) near the cargo bay. Figure you need 8 to optimally man the watch bill/do everything the MCRN would expect of the ship, so you could have 3 watches of 8 on 16 off so you get 8 hours of sleep, 8 on watch, 8 for other tasks or training or down time. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts I really like this picture, but even in the tv-series, the rooms seem to be bigger and longer, sometimes as long as a bus.

But in this image, it appears to come down almost to the outer hull of the ship.I think it's just a case of the writer and illustrator having very different visions.I havent read the books but as far as I understand the Roci is built to hold a full crew plus a squad of marines. "She is a long and sleek ship with an engine housing twice as large as that of a normal ship its size." But I think it comes with a trade-off, as people on the ship would have to go through the flight deck to reach the other side of the ship. I thought I remembered scenes in the books where the roci crew was able to mostly keep to themselves for days at a time since the ship is mostly empty. The various scenes in the cargo holds had me imagining them as much more cavernous spaces too.you'd be surprised how little space people really need. Obviously you can move the center of rotation away from the CoM but that means you're less efficient when rotating. As a ship's boat, the Razorback would have a length of 20-30 meters. I thought I remembered scenes in the books where the roci crew was able to mostly keep to themselves for days at a time since the ship is mostly empty.I lived in a 2Br apartment for 4 years with a roommate, and even when we had the same days off we could go a couple days without seeing each other due to sleep schedules and habits. You could easily fit that many, while having small occupancy staterooms instead of open berthing makes it less efficient you could hot bunk.Figure you need 8 to optimally man the watch bill/do everything the MCRN would expect of the ship, so you could have 3 watches of 8 on 16 off so you get 8 hours of sleep, 8 on watch, 8 for other tasks or training or down time. Not ideal but you could fit 2 dozen crew with less berthing than the Rock has.Yeah, especially the ladder in the command room. I always figured for instance, that Alex is facing the front of the ship on the bridge, much like you face the windshield in a car.
