Sorry I can't comment on the 930, but I would lean to the FN versus the M4 as mentioned.I had a Mossberg 930SPX and still have a FN SLP Mark 1, so I guess that casts my vote. Joined: Mar 31, 2008 Messages: 88. Thanked 7,626 Times in 3,138 Posts

190 0 16. Even though everything is now working fine, I no longer trust my 930."

I need some heavy 3 gun advice. ... TFC Shotty Shootout Benelli M4 vs 870 Vang Comp vs FN SLP vs KSG vs Mossberg - … They seem to function well though.Since you arent looking for "bang for the buck", id go FN SLP.

Thanked 379 Times in 93 Posts I find many threads and even a youtube video suggesting that these shotguns are in the same catigory, some even saying the mossberg is better. I currently have a mossberg 590a1 with ghost ring sights and I really like it, but I've got a fever, and the only cure is a semi-auto shotgun. My FN SLP MK1 will go 300 or more without a malf.

So I am on my 3rd barrel from Mossberg, this one is different than first two and the one currently shipping with the 930 SPX. Thread Status: Not open for further replies.

Thanked 379 Times in 93 Posts No gun, including the SLP, is perfect, but I've read a couple too many issues with the 930 to want to go down that path. On the other hand the mossberg felt like a toy! Im sure its a fine weapon, i just cant justify the price premium over a reliable pump considering what kind of action i intend to bring a shotgun to. (Blasting whole watermelons with 00 buck is a helluva fun time!

Push is now a shove and I want a new one ASAP.

My conclusion: HOW CAN PEOPLE EVEN COMPARE THE TWO?!!!

After handling the two, I can't believe even …

Were you even looking at a semi auto?

Cleaned and lubed it would be good for a box, maybe. Edited January 16, 2009 by Paradiddle. Well, after reading this thread, and a bunch over at brianenos.com, I think the SLP is going to be the way to go. You must log in or register to reply here. Thanked 379 Times in 93 Posts

Mossberg 930 SPX v FNH SLP Mk. I shot a 3-gun match with that barrel knowing that my slug shots would be high.

But it kinda hit me yesterday when I was at the PX/AAFES on base here. It is ok, but it is not a Benelli or a FN. Mossberg 930 spx, or FN SLP. Feb 16, 2010 houston. Dudeman.

I will replace it with a FN SLP MK1.

I was trying to decide between the two this past week until I went to the gun shop the other day.

Because of its consistent reliability regardless of the ammunition and the equivalent accuracy between the shotguns it is the determination of this study that the Mossberg 930 SPX is the superior 3-gun shotgun.

I have been running a 930 for a few years now and mine has been flawless except for the time the bolt handle fell off. Were you even looking at a semi auto?

Are you sure you were looking at a Mossberg 930?

I had a 930 SPX than never ran right. I was trying to decide between the two this past week until I went to the gun shop the other day.

You'll enjoy the FN. And I'm going to.

In terms of ease of operation, however, only 67% preferred the 930 SPX to the FNH SLP. The 930 JM Pro is a 12-gauge gas-powered semi-automatic shotgun that was based on the Mossberg 930.

Several people make them.

I then got a replacement barrel from Mossberg.

Thanked 371 Times in 178 Posts I have held them both but not able to do a side by side comparison. Enjoy the new shotgun. Thanks. Post subject: Mossberg 930 SPX vs FN SLP thoughts please. Mossberg shipped the first 930s with a defective barrel. They don't have slides... Thanked 3,110 Times in 1,026 Posts I am confident in the gun and it fires faster than I can shoot it or at least hold onto it.

I owned a recoil-operated Beretta and don't need any more similar shotguns. If women had apostrophes instead of periods, they'd be even more possessive and prone to contractions.Well, after reading this thread, and a bunch over at brianenos.com, I think the SLP is going to be the way to go.So I've read about the ol' Mossberg 930SPX vs. FN SLP before on the forum.

I have a Mossberg 930 SPX that I bought for 3-gun competition. The Mossberg 930 SPX or the FNH SLP? I have been running a 930 for a few years now and mine has been flawless except for the time the bolt handle fell off. The Mark 1 has a longer barrel and more capacity so the "equal" comparison would be the 930SPX to the SLP but the SLP (18.5" barrel and GR sights) were impossible to find at the time I was shopping. I would choose the SLP or Benelli any day, and the mag extensions for the Benelli are not hard to find.

The 930 JM Pro was engineered under the guidance of Jerry Miculek in order to ensure that it was optimized for competitive 2 and 3-gun matches, and is one of the best 3-gun shotguns that you can get for under $1,000. I don't know much about the Benelli M4, but if it's good enough for the USMC (and LAPD for that matter) it's GTG too. If women had apostrophes instead of periods, they'd be even more possessive and prone to contractions. Bought it.I've read an awful lot at SW and BE and elsewhere about the FN and Mossberg (and the 11-87 and Benellis as well).
