Ofc, I have drop bars on my road / racing bikes for obvious reasons, but my riding position on the Touring rig is much more relaxed and upright.Straight bar for me with a slight rise, but have also been looking at the The jones bar looks interesting....I have butterfly handlebars which I really like except for two reasons....One they make a really hard climb a little more challenging and more importantly for me the fixing of a handlebar bag is difficult. Even though I'm very happy with my current Touring Bike, I'm always looking at what the market pushes out each year.Surly out of the USA has a very solid reputation for building great Touring Bikes......the LHT, for example has a cult like status amongst the Touring community :)Just noticed that they have released a new Touring Bike in their offerings......"Bridge Club" running 27.5 on the stock model but apparently can also run a 700c!Sadly for me, they don't offer the Bike in a Frame and Fork option as the "stock " bike has a less desirable build kit (IMHO).Still quite keen on the Troll 26" Frame and Fork with my own personal build spec's......but will be a couple of years away as the current bike is still going very well and being prepped for the up coming Tour to the Indian Himalaya :)Wow, 2.4 in tires are big! Save your dated receipt for proof of purchase. This limited warranty is expressly limited to the repair or replacement of a defective product, at the option of Surly, and is the sole remedy of the warranty. Still, the flat bars appeal to me.Wow, 2.4 in tires are big! Please enter a different location or un-check "Show only retailers with confirmed stock.

Shipped with FedEx Ground. The rear spacing is Gnot Boost QR, in that the frame is designed at 138mm.

The jones bar looks to rectify both these issues....The problem I can see with the Jones is the wide one would be too wide in traffic and also here in the U.K. going through anti motorbike gates would be a pain ...Also I would not like to try out some of the forearm positions without panniers never mind fully loaded.....If you do get one I would very interested to hear how you get on.The old North Road bars upside down have pretty much the same sweep and drop and have been around for decades. This Surly product is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for three years from the date of retail purchase of the product, subject to the limitations detailed below. !Also I would not like to try out some of the forearm positions without panniers never mind fully loaded.....If you do get one I would very interested to hear how you get on.I wouldn't go with that add on for the full reach / stretched out position.....kinda like a TT position on a TT Bike :)If I do go ahead with this bar....I'll def post up a review of it :)I have cheap aluminum bar ends on my straight mountain bike bars, which i really like. I've been thinking about putting some drop bars on my bridge club. The Bridge Club will help you bridge the gap…See what I did there? We’ve been making off-road touring bikes for a while now, and over the years we have arrived at a pretty good geometry recipe when it comes to touring on dirt.
*Yeah, its only running a double up front, but most of their other touring models come stock with a triple up front!

Triple guides on the top tube and single guides elsewhere take care of your cable wrangling needs.

2020 Very not-Aero.

When Ben isn’t doing bike math and drawings, he’s likely enjoying a beer and playing the mandolin with his brothers in their folk/bluegrass band, The Thirsty River. For someone who is just getting into touring or bikepacking that can be a lot to wrap your head around. but 1X systems are all the rage these days. And only 32 holes on the rim?

I've already got a set of dirt drops in the parts bin, and can get the other parts I would need pretty cheaply. Their steering speed is quick and is matched to relatively short wheelbases which keep the bike nimble. Is it …

The Surly Bridge Club is a great little bike. Want to dip you toe into touring, bikepacking or mountain biking? If you don’t know what a mandolin is, there’s a google for that.

The right way to go is get a longer stem and it's not like my 70mm is long so that won't be an issue. Not sure if you follow the Pro MTB scene?

But what if you want to throw caution to the wind and let your route, plans and terrain be chosen on a whim?

Lose the front mech and shifter / cables.....just change the front chain ring depending on the course / conditions and work that rear mech and chain like a madman! Our trucker line is the go-to for long distance road touring. If you’re interested in the bikes in their Trail category, we’ll be publishing a blog about those soon.)

These drop bar frames are designed with sharp handling in mind.
They offer a couple of more hand positions so they don't get tired.
