See if that works and let me know the results ! we tried it the reverse light is on when we start it cant go over 24 mph and sometimes it goes off but most of the time it is either on or comes on right as you get close inbetween 18 and 23 mph we took it to the dealership and they adjusted something they told us they cant tell us how to fix it and to bring it in but we cant afford to do that and warranty is over with now

On 02 through 05 Yamaha built in a rev limiter for reverse that pretty much caused reverse to be useless. Thank you for your patience! The 01 660 did not have a rev limiter for reverse. all the grease does is make the clutch quieter. It has good power and runs great but Rev Limiter starts shutting it own at 31 mph.

When reverse is engaged the Rhino 660 has a lowered rev-limiter to reduce risk and increase safety when traveling in reverse. 660 rhino always cut out at just over mid range , fiddled with the carb and everything else you can think of for a year was getting rid of it when i saw a utube vid about the reverse switch going bad and telling the ecm to cut rpm , Yamaha has installed this so you cant go backwards to fast.when it goes bad it thinks you are going in reverse and shuts down the rpm. Could My yamaha rhino reverse light stays on in forward and the govenor kicks in at 24 and slows us down what needs to be adjusted and were is it located .
they have no effect on you motor reving. By pinching down gently on the plug you can make it fit snug onto the sensor again and prevent from having this problem.
