I loosened the two screws that hold the plastic piece above the ice tray and inserted a shim to hold the piece down closer towards the bottom of the tray. Because the bucket is not pushed in all the way I'm certain that the connection is not being made in the back where the plastic rotating piece in the refrigerator is supposed to mate with the metal "tongs" (don't know the exact terminology) that drive the metal spiral in the bucket to move the ice … what should it look out properly aligned?

I'm sure I'm doing something really stupid here but I've tried for like any hour and can't figure it out. if I catch after the first cycle or two, I can just reach up and touch the cubes and they fall. I've submitted a support request, and even though there is a class action lawsuit for these ice makers, I'm being told it will be $200-300 + parts to fix a KNOWN issue. And if it still won't set back in place, you may need a new bucket because the release mechanism isn't working correctly and letting you set the bucket down on the door.
