The part was replaced but the problem wasn’t rust. We should not have to subject our families to all this mold.At this point there is nothing else to do except purchase a new washer. In other words, the source of the flakes is a specific contaminant inside the machine and not part of the machine itself, so if you just keep at them with your bleach runs they should eventually all get killed and washed out. So I'm having this problem for a while and I do a Google search and OMG this is DISGUSTING. There seem to be multiple threads regarding the same issue, but when I called the service line, the tech told me she had never heard of anything like this at all. I've even tried bleach, vinegar, CLR with little improvement. It definitely will not be a Sumsung! You may want to wash the tub a few time to remove the Clorox smell. I had noticed brown residue in the bottom of the machine on occassion since I bought it but always chalked it up to something on the kids clothes or other dirt/lint. Finally, I decided to investigate what is causing the disgusting residue on our clothes. I have been washing my kids' clothes in this mold for months and months?!?! How disgusting!
