Prior to 1980 there were only occasional sightings of moose that wandered into Colorado from Wyoming and Utah.

I have seen a couple up from Keystone towards Montezuma and the the lower part of the Salt Like trail near Wlidernest/It is rare that I don't see moose on the western side of RMNP.
