Extended periods, using your phone in the chair, taking a call with arm up to head while sitting. No office chair is going to truly be BIFL, but these are as close as you'll find these days. I ended up taking it to work and got a leap for home.

These chairs are totally BIFL and will still be around 100 years from now.The frames would break and it wasn't worth fixing them. It's awesome. Almost like new and no issues with squeaking or moving lumbar support. Racing seats are not designed to be comfortable, they are designed to keep you in place, even with high g cornering forces. I read something like this somewhere and it stuck with me...Aeron is a very old design and has different sizes and lots of controls to make you fit the chair. Make sure you sit in the sizes to make sure you get the one that fits you.

I had to replace my last 2 chairs because they were too hard and made my elbows sore. Check the armrests - if they’re the fixed or height adjustable versions they have a tendency to crack or peel toward the front because of lack of support underneath when people put their weight on them. They're an ANSI accredited organization that awards certification to furniture that meets their minimum standards for business use.

I can probably order a replacement piece for a reasonable amount but in the mean time I've just removed both the arms and used the chair without them.
